FLT Driver — Reach & Counterbalance
About the role
DPD's Hinckley operation is one of the UK's major parcel-sorting hubs, built around fast trailer turnaround, scan accuracy and tight trunking schedules. FLT drivers are a key part of keeping parcels, cages and pallets moving safely through the hub without slowing the automated sort or outbound loading plan. This role covers reach and counterbalance work across goods-in, marshalling, trailer loading and internal moves. You'll work in a time-sensitive logistics environment where accuracy matters: a missed scan, damaged pallet or late trailer can ripple through the network. The pace is high, but the routines are clear. Strong FLT drivers here are people who stay calm around moving vehicles, keep their paperwork and scans clean, and communicate early when a load, trailer or bay is not ready.
Responsibilities
- Operate reach and counterbalance trucks around trailer bays, marshalling lanes and goods-in areas
- Load and unload trailers to schedule while protecting parcel and pallet condition
- Complete WMS scan-pack movements accurately so every unit is traceable through the hub
- Carry out goods-in checks, bay checks and damage reporting before freight moves onward
- Keep pedestrian walkways, charging areas and loading zones clear and safe
- Work with transport, warehouse and sortation teams to recover late or misrouted loads
Requirements
- In-date FLT licences (reach + counterbalance)
- 6+ months recent hub, warehouse or parcel-network experience
- Confident operating around trailers, dock levellers and moving pedestrians
- Comfortable with handheld scanners and basic WMS processes
- Reliable timekeeping for rotating early / late shift patterns
