Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer

About the role

Jaguar Land Rover's Solihull plant is the home of Range Rover, Range Rover Sport and Defender — three of the most profitable vehicles in the JLR portfolio. The body shop runs over 500 Kuka and Fanuc robots across the welding cells, with PLC-controlled press lines feeding a tightly-sequenced production schedule into paint and trim. This role joins a multi-skilled maintenance team responsible for keeping the body shop running at full takt. The plant operates on a 4-on / 4-off pattern across days and nights, with a strong reactive maintenance culture during shift hours and a planned-maintenance window across changeover slots and weekend stops. Engineering culture at Solihull leans hands-on. You'll work shoulder-to-shoulder with body engineers, controls specialists and operations team leaders — solving problems on the floor, not behind a desk. Continuous improvement projects are part of the role: the maintenance team is expected to deliver measurable OEE and MTBF gains on the cells they own each year, with clear visibility from plant leadership. Responsibilities

• Reactive and planned maintenance on robotic welding cells, hydraulic presses and conveyor systems
• Fault-find on Siemens S7 / S7-1500 and Allen-Bradley ControlLogix PLCs
• Work with Kuka KRC and Fanuc R-30iB robot controllers — backup / restore programs and recover from collisions
• Lead root-cause analysis on recurring failures and present findings at shift review
• Propose and deliver continuous improvement projects to lift OEE and reduce mean time to repair
• Maintain documentation in the CMMS (Maximo or equivalent) for every job card you close
• Cover both reactive call-outs during running hours and PPM activity during planned downtime
• Mentor apprentices and shop-floor operators on basic fault-finding and escalation routines

Requirements

• Time-served apprenticeship in electrical, mechanical or mechatronics engineering
• Hands-on experience with industrial robotics (Kuka, Fanuc, ABB or Yaskawa)
• Confident reading and fault-finding on Siemens S7 / Allen-Bradley PLC code
• 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (or willingness to obtain at induction)
• Comfortable on a 4-on / 4-off shift pattern including nights
• Right to work in the UK without sponsorship
• Strong written English — shift reports and CMMS entries are read by plant management
